With the notarization, Lausitz Science Park GmbH (LSP GmbH) officially launches on July 1, 2026: The new company will be responsible for developing and operating the science park on the site of the former Cottbus-Nord airfield. Shareholders include the city of Cottbus/Chóśebuz, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, and WISTA GmbH from Berlin-Adlershof, whose science park there serves as a model for the Cottbus LSP. The state government is supporting the process as one of the flagship projects for structural change in Lusatia.

Minister and Head of the State Chancellery, Kathrin Schneider: “The founding of LSP GmbH by the city of Cottbus, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), and the Adlershof science and business park marks a crucial milestone for the Lausitz Science Park. This step paves the way for close collaboration between science and industry, with the goal of creating new value chains from innovative research and strengthening Lausitz as a location for future-oriented technologies. Now, the focus is on advancing the park's strategic development. The three shareholders are securing the necessary funding for the next five years, thus laying the foundation for sustainable progress. The state is actively supporting this process.”

Mayor Doreen Mohaupt: “With over 420 hectares of development area and a direct connection to the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, the Lausitz Science Park forms a business and science hub with high spin-off potential in the Berlin-Lausitz innovation corridor. The establishment of the joint LSP GmbH by the shareholders BTU, WISTA Berlin, and the City of Cottbus/Chóśebuz aims to strengthen and consolidate activities. This will activate land, generate economic value on-site, create high-quality jobs, and thus generate additional tax revenue. Not only will the Lausitz Science Park itself benefit, but the development will also have a positive impact on the city and region. We extend our sincere thanks to all those who supported this process – first and foremost, the State of Brandenburg.”

Prof. Gesine Grande, President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg: “With LSP GmbH, the Lausitz Science Park now has the structure it needs to reach its full potential. As a scientific partner, BTU contributes precisely what drives structural change in Lausitz: international research strength, bright minds from around the world, and a vibrant startup scene that boldly puts ideas into practice. With this joint venture, we are creating the foundation for excellent science to translate into concrete innovations, for companies to grow, and for new jobs to be created in the region. In this way, Lausitz is developing into a dynamic, internationally renowned center for science and innovation – and one of Germany's most exciting future laboratories.”

Roland Sillmann, Managing Director, WISTA Management GmbH: “The founding of Lausitz Science Park GmbH is an important milestone on the path to a networked and sustainable economic, high-tech, and scientific region and the Berlin-Lausitz innovation corridor. As the operator of the future technology and science park in Cottbus, LSP GmbH will optimize the transfer of knowledge between research and industry and transform knowledge into added value – this strengthens the innovative capacity of the entire region. Furthermore, LSP GmbH is one of the pioneering, cross-border startups with shareholders from Berlin and Brandenburg: The region needs more of these to remain competitive in the long term in the international arena for high technology, knowledge, and talent.”
