WISTA is a non-profit Berlin state-owned company
As a state-owned company, we have a clear political mandate and social responsibility: We establish the conditions for sustainable economic success at locations throughout Berlin.
In Adlershof, we manage Germany's largest science and technology park on 4.6 square kilometres. Innovative solutions for the Grand Challenges are developed here at the intersection between science and business. As WISTA, we have been contributing to this since 2011 with our own innovation projects, particularly in the fields of energy, mobility and digitalization.
We have been focussing on strategic sustainability management for several years now: for instance, we have been reporting on the German Sustainability Code since 2019, have published our first sustainability report for 2022 – and have set up a sustainability mission statement for the entire association.
At the Adlershof site in particular, we are focussing on the topic of diversity – among other measures, with a Diversity Conference that has been held annually since 2023. Because we are convinced that effective corporate sustainability also centres on people.
Our sustainability mission statement
Sustainability as a collective endeavour requires a common understanding and a collaborative philosophy. The corporate culture is the essential building block for bringing about fundamental change.
For this reason, WISTA's sustainability efforts initially focus on the corporate mission statement and a coherent strategy. Both of these ensure a positive impact on all dimensions of sustainability across all areas and projects at WISTA.
Three fields of actions form the centrepiece of our sustainability strategy. Based on these, we derive operational measures and sub-targets for all aspects within the WISTA Group.
Details can be found in our sustainability report (only in German).
We operate responsibly and safeguard quality and the future by constantly developing structures and processes. Part of our target image in the economic dimension is the maintenance and further development of the building portfolio and the operational capability of the infrastructure. Both ensure long-term economic stability. In order to achieve the socio-ecological transformation, we are continuously increasing our investments in the organisation and infrastructure. At the same time, we have set ourselves the goal of making our processes even more efficient, effective, flexible and environmentally friendly.
Our working world is diverse
We see diversity as an essential value in the personal attitude of all executives and employees at WISTA. For us, it is the basis of our teamwork—not least because we are convinced that the challenges of our time can only be solved in diverse teams.
We want to create an atmosphere, where everyone can contribute their skills and potential to the company's goals in the best possible way. True to the motto: similarities that unite us—and differences that enrich us.
