Bowls, bagels, burgers

It’s lunch time in Adlershof: In part two of our lunch spot series, we take a look at three more places to eat.

Street food-style burgers

Burgers are their passion—and they serve them in Adlershof with good music and even better spirits in Adlershof. Nico and Christin Schütze are restaurateurs through and through, having spent the past 25 years side by side in the kitchen. Since 2020, their Burger BomB container—with its rooftop terrace—has found a home on James-Franck-Strasse, between the Audi centre and the Centre for Photonics and Optics. Alongside burgers, the menu now includes salads and bowls, though the clear customer favourite remains the Bacon Beef Cheese Bomb. The couple source their ingredients with care—the buns, for instance, come from their favourite local baker.

Their guests often arrive as entire office teams from nearby companies, says Christin Schütze. “Sometimes we make 100 burgers in one hour.” Good music is always playing. In winter, customers can pre-order via WhatsApp or phone. New ordering tablets now allow guests to place and pay for orders on the spot. The couple also cater corporate events and festivals with their food truck. They feel very much at home in Adlershof, appreciating both the people and the area’s potential. Recently, Nico Schütze has even discovered another new talent: creating social media content. With his own videos on TikTok and Instagram, Burger BomB is gaining attention far beyond Adlershof.

More than bagels

Come lunchtime, the Bagel Company is buzzing. With a team of six, owner Caglar Yildiz serves the Adlershof community not just bagels but a rotating selection of daily specials. Meat, fish, vegetarian—there’s something different every day. The menu leans towards Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes, though classics like beef goulash or cordon bleu also make an appearance. The bright orange shop on Rudower Chaussee has been around since 2008, and now also offers catering.

A consistently upbeat native Berliner, Yildiz took over the business in 2017 almost by chance. When he first saw the shop, he thought: “This could really work.” Adlershof, he says, is an innovative location with a growing customer base. After nearly a decade, he and his team feel closely connected to the area. There’s always time for a bit of small talk—even during the lunchtime rush.

The bagels come in ten different types of bread and countless variations. What sets them apart, Yildiz says, are the homemade spreads: honey fig, Dijon mustard or beetroot. For the summer, the team already has new ideas: homemade cakes and iced matcha lattes are on the way.

Family tradition at om mani

Located at EUROPA-CENTER Ecowiss, right in the heart of Adlershof, om mani is a go-to spot for Asian cuisine—especially at lunchtime. Van Doanh Vu spent 16 years as head chef at the renowned Berlin restaurant Monsieur Vuong. Encouraged by his family, he eventually took the step into self-employment and opened his own place. Since 2024, the Vu and Tran families have been running the restaurant together, quickly expanding into catering and corporate events. The name “om mani” translates roughly as “the jewel of the lotus flower”—a symbol of purity, harmony and inner values.

As elsewhere, lunchtime is the main business. A daily changing menu ranges from poke bowls and curries to traditional pho noodle soup. The weekly specials are shared on Instagram. It gets busy at midday, but the team is well-attuned. Dishes are on the table within minutes. “Fresh, fast, high quality”—that’s the family’s standard, and customers clearly agree.

One standout is the freshly made kumquat iced tea, with ingredients sourced directly from Vietnam. In the evening, things are quieter and more refined, with sushi, steak and fish dishes on the menu. According to his daughter Tran Tu Anh, Vu is still the best cook in the kitchen—and the creative mind behind every dish.
