Steinbeis SIT makes EU sustainability regulations understandable

ESG-REG Guide explains complex guidelines and helps companies with compliance on their path to growth, resilience and innovation

The Steinbeis School of Sustainable Innovation and Transformation (SIT), based in Steinbeis House Berlin-Adlershof, has published the ESG-REG Guide—a guide to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and evolving European sustainability regulations, along with accompanying summaries.

These open-access resources were created as part of the project ‘Navigating ESG Regulations: A Guide for SMEs’ (ESG-REG), which is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the EU.

The ESG-REG Guide is designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), their trainers, consultants, and other stakeholders understand and apply ESG principles and comply with sustainability regulations, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), and EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Led by SIT, the ESG-REG project brought together partners from Germany and Croatia to break down complex EU sustainability reporting regulations into clear, actionable guidance. The ESG-REG Guide features simple-language explanations, practical examples, and an overview of tools and materials that can support compliance and long-term sustainability efforts.

To enhance accessibility, a summary version of the Guide (in English, German and Croatian) was also developed, offering concise overviews of key regulations for time-constrained professionals.

To support ongoing learning and application, SIT organizes training workshops at its Adlershof premises, engaging local businesses, consultants, and students in the practical use of the Guide and in discussions around sustainable business transformation.

The ESG-REG Guide and summaries are available for free download via the project website:
