CommunitE Innovation project aims to strengthen nationwide citizen energy community
Researchers from the Reiner Lemoine Institute provide advisory support

Mascha Richter, head of the RLI research unit Transformation of Energy Systems, and Philipp Blechinger, head of the research unit Off-Grid Systems and the Reiner Lemoine Graduate School, are joining the advisory board for the CommunitE Innovation project run by the Alliance for Citizen Energy. As advisory board members, they will advise the project’s management team on key decisions and proposals. Mascha and Philipp will contribute their expertise from their many years of research and practical experience to this role.
Mascha focuses on the modeling and visualization of energy systems. She also has extensive experience in involving citizens and stakeholders in energy transition processes.
Philipp’s focus is on research into rural electrification and (electrical) island systems. He is involved in energy system modeling and participates in international research on the decentralized energy transition.
Supporting citizen energy projects
The CommunitE Innovation umbrella project aims to strengthen and further develop the nationwide citizen energy community. Citizen energy describes a renewable energy transition based on decentralized structures. The project is intended to serve as a point of contact for all questions relating to the introduction of new concepts and the further development of existing ones in the field of community-based energy supply. The focus is on exchange between citizen energy communities, scientific institutions, and other actors in society. People can submit their project ideas and apply for funding.
Link to civil society
The advisory board is an external, independent body alongside the management team of the CommunitE Innovations project. The advisory board’s tasks within the framework of this project include reviewing selection criteria and processes for funded projects, providing support and advice on strategic decisions in project management, and transferring knowledge to the stakeholder community.
