Working in research publishing
Career paths after completing a doctorate can take many different directions, often extending far beyond academia. In the upcoming November session, the focus will be on the field of research publishing, a field that plays a crucial role in shaping how scientific discoveries are communicated, evaluated and shared with the global research community.
For scientists research publishing offers the opportunity to remain close to cutting-edge research while pursuing careers in editing, publishing strategy and research communication. This field of work combines scientific expertise with critical thinking, communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of disciplines.
Through a personal career story, our guest speaker Stefanie Reichert will provide insight into her transition from academic research to her role as an editor at Nature Physics. She will also discuss which challenges and opportunities are available to scientists in research publishing.
After the talk we will continue the discussion in an informal setting and there will be an opportunity to talk and network over light refreshments.
About our guest speaker:
Stefanie Reichert (Senior Editor and Team Leader at Nature Physics)
After her undergraduate studies at Humboldt Universität zuBerlin, Stefanie obtained her PhD in experimental elementary particle physics from the University of Manchester. This was followed by a post-doctoral position at Technical University Dortmund before she joined Nature Physics as an editor in 2018.
