What is Adlershof doing in Japan?

The Technology Park Adlershof is one of the most dynamic locations for photonics, optics, and microsystems technology in Germany. Adlershof-based companies and research institutes are leading in high-performance laser diodes. These include Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH), Eagleyard Photonics GmbH, and Jenoptic Diode Lab GmbH. The Max-Born-Institut für Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy (MBI) plays a leading role in attosecond laser systems.
Technology Park companies are also world leaders in the field of materials processing: DirectPhotonics Industries GmbH, for example, develops and manufacturers systems for high-efficiency direct laser processing. Other Adlershof-based heavyweights include Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB), and its Electron Storage Ring BESSY II, and BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing which are successful in the analysis of thin layers.
In cooperation with Berlin Partner for Business and Technology, who represent the German capital region, the operating company WISTA-MANAGEMENT GMBH will visit Tokyo to present its services to Japanese companies that seek access to the European market. WISTA-MANAGEMENT GMBH provides excel-lent support in research, production, and sales to new companies in the fields of photonics and optics. JNC Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer for liquid crystals, is a prime example for a successful partnership, as is the company ES-Fibres which moved to Adlershof five years ago and is already considerably expanding.
Further Berlin-based companies in the field of optical technologies exhibiting at “Photonix Japan 2015” include: Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, TEC Microsystems GmbH, VPI Photonics GmbH, Finetech Nippon Co. Ltd., LUCEO Technologies GmbH, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS).
Optical technology in Berlin Adlershof
Over a hundred firms are pooled in the photonics and optics cluster in Adlershof. It is built on a firm foundation of research, broad expertise, and close cooperation among numerous specialised small and medium-sized companies. The cluster spans the entire value creation chain of visible light and the remaining electromagnetic spectrum.
