SOLON contracted for 1.2 MW solar system on landfill

18° landfill surface inclination requires specialized system design

SOLON Energy GmbH is to construct a 1.2 MW solar system on the disused area of the Oberhaugstett landfill (administrative district of Calw, Baden-Württemberg). The project was commissioned by AWG Abfallwirtschaft Landkreis Calw GmbH, a waste management service provider in the district of Calw.

The power generated will be self-consumed for the most part, providing the neighboring compost plant with electricity. Surplus power will be fed into the utility grid at the applicable feed-in tariff rate.

The landfill site, upon which the solar system is to be installed, requires specialized system design due to its inclination of approximately 18°.

SOLON began construction on the power plant last week. Around 5,000 SOLON Black/Blue 220/16 modules are to be fixed mounted by the end of June.
SOLON will subsequently take over the management of the system for the next five years. SOLON Regor hardware and SOLON Vega software will be used for system monitoring.
