High Definition Television (HDTV) - 1:0 for Studio Berlin

The greatest sporting event in the world is the FIFA World Cup, which by any measure, sets the standards. The same can be said of Studio Berlin, which developed the first HDTV-OB unit (Outside Broadcast) and broadcast to the world every game played in the 2006 World Cup stadiums from Leipzig and Berlin in the crystal clear 16:9 format. The 54-foot (16.5 meter) long mobile van has an expandable work compartment that can extend to a width of almost 15 feet (4.5 meter). With such dimensions, even from the outside the OB6 is quite impressive. Inside the giant, up to 23 cameras are supported - in contrast to a normal soccer match where there are usually only seven or eight cameras deployed. However, in addition to the HDTV, the standard definition (SD) can still be transmitted. The same applies to all four of the other OB vans from Studio Berlin that are hired by all of the private and public channels to broadcast the biggest show events as well as the soccer matches from the 1st and 2nd leagues, handball, basketball, or even the biathlon from Oberhof.
